Since my children are grown and on their own path, I decided that a career change was in store. After many years of working in the medical field and teaching martial arts, I decided to fulfill a lifelong urge to become a massage therapist.
I grew up learning a modality called Seifukujitsu. My father was taught this modality through his martial arts training in the 1940’s. He passed on this knowledge to my brothers and me. Before attending massage school, I already had a lifetime of massage training and experience.
I graduated from Sedona School of Massage in June of 2019. Massage school enhanced my knowledge, validated my skills and gave me the stepping stone I needed to become a licensed therapist.
In school, I learned modalities such as, Neuromuscular therapy, Polarity, Craniosacral therapy, Orthobionomy, Shiatsu and Swedish massage. My Shiatsu teacher thought I was a Shiatsu practitioner! I thank my dad for his tutelage which made me appear proficient. Since Seifukujitsu inherited principles from Shiatsu.
Once I started my business, I completed a course in Ashiatsu. A modality similar to the practitioner “walking on the back”, but instead of walking, it’s more detailed with deep pressing or gliding strokes using the ball or heel of the foot. This technique was informally introduced to me when I was a child. Aiding my mothers stressed and tired muscles, I learned to used my heels to press on tight areas while walking on her back. Ashiatsu is a familiar modality for me and therefore, a natural asset to my repertoire. I’m looking forward to continuing education in advanced Ashiatsu..
These modalities will assist to restructure the mind and body at a cellular level. I believe that combining and customizing these modalities to the individual, will further facilitate relief of pain, stress and encourage relaxation. The body may have a molecular phenomenon happening deep within, but “feeling” these results is the ultimate goal that will be achieved.
If I find that you and I are falling short of progress, we can discuss other health care professionals that may be helpful in meeting our goals.
